Charred chicken thighs grilled to perfection coated in a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce. Delicious when paired with fresh, grilled veggies like asparagus or corn on the cob. Place it in a burger bun with some mayonnaise for a delicious BBQ chicken sandwich. There is so much you can do this these!
I thrive when cooking on the grill. It is my happy place. I love the warm weather, I love sitting outside sipping on one of my Classic Margs while smelling the delicious combination of grill smoke and charred food.
Grilled chicken was always one of my favorite recipes growing up. My parent's do not share the same passion for cooking that I do, which is obviously totally fine, but we did not have a huge variety of meals growing up. SO, you can only have imagined my excitement when we had grilled BBQ chicken. It is such a delicious and elevated version of chicken that is so simple to accomplish.
This is the absolute perfect weeknight meal. There is no reason to stress over this one. It only requires two ingredients and no prep. Just simply place it on the grill and let the grill do the work for you.
Ingredients:
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
- Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce
Kitchen Appliances
- grill
- grill spatula
- basting brush
The Steps
This recipe is about as easy as it gets to make. I actually don't think it can get much easier. I don't marinade the chicken for this recipe, I think the barbecue sauce adds plenty of enough flavor to the chicken.
Before turning on the grill, make sure you spray the grates with cooking spray. Chicken sticks very easily so this is super important. Then heat the grill up. You want to get the temperature between 350 and 400 degrees.
Add the chicken to the grill and close the grill. Let it cook for about 5 minutes. Flip the chicken. Let it cook about another 5 minutes. Check doneness by using a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should be 165 for chicken.
Using a basting brush, paint the barbecue sauce on each piece of chicken. Close the grill for another minute to let the barbecue sauce start to heat. Let the chicken rest 5 minutes before serving.

Yes! I am actually planning on trying this out soon! Throw it on a brioche bun or any type of hamburger bun with some mayonnaise and you will get an absolutely delicious sandwich!
