Step 1:
Caramelizing onions takes about an hour so you will need a little patience. About 30 minutes in, sprinkle the sugar over the onions and mix it in. This will help with the caramelization process.
Step 2:
Make sure you are stirring constantly because you don't want the onions on the bottom to burn. Cook the onions on medium-low heat until they turn a golden brown color.
