Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 large white onions diced
  • 3 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoon chives chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • To start, you want to dice up the onions and add them to a frying pan with the butter.  Turn the heat up to medium low and start to cook the onions.
  • Caramelizing onions takes about an hour.  About 30 minutes in, sprinkle the sugar over the onions and mix it in.  This will help with the caramelization process
  • Make sure you are stirring constantly because you don't want the onions on the bottom to burn.
  • Once the onions are done, mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce, chopped chives and salt and pepper.
  • Add in the onions and mix.
  • Serve with potato chips and garnish with extra chives.

Notes

Save covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
