Easy to Make Cowboy Butter Recipe - Best on Steak

Butter, dijon mustard, lemon juice, fresh herbs and spices.  This is the perfect butter sauce and dipping sauce to serve with steak or seafood especially when looking to incorporate bold flavors.

Equipment

  • 1 Sauce Pan
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 sharp knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoon course dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoon chives
  • 2 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Measure out paprika, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
  • Chop chives and parsley. Grate fresh garlic.
  • Melt butter on medium heat. Add in dijon mustard once melted.  Add lemon juice and garlic. Cook about 3 mins.
  • Add spices and fresh herbs.  Cook another 2-3 minutes.  Remove butter mixture from heat.  Allow to cool and save in the refrigerator or use immediately as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • save leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  
  • use leftovers as a resting butter for steak.
