Equipment

  • 1 Cheese Grater

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup mini pepperonis

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Using a rolling pin, roll out the pastry dough until dough is pliable and surface area of the puff pastry dough is a little larger. Shred mozzarella cheese.
  • Spread pizza sauce on one half of the pastry dough. Spread mozzarella cheese over pizza sauce. Fold the half of the pastry dough with no sauce or cheese over the cheese and sauce.
  • Using a pizza cutter, slice the puff pastry into 1 inch strips. Try to slice the pieces even for best results. Whisk an egg. Baste the tops of the puff pastry slices with egg wash.
  • Pick up each puff pastry slice and twist 3-4 times. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top each twist with additional mozzarella cheese. Bake 18-20 minutes until cheese is melted and puff pastry is golden brown. Serve immediately or save for later.

Notes

  • save leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days in the fridge.
  • these ingredients can be frozen for up to 2 months.
  • reheat leftovers in the air fryer or in the oven.
  • for best results, shred mozzarella by hand instead of buying pre-shredded mozzarella.
