Equipment

  • 1 sharp knife and cutting board
  • 1 frying pan or griddle
  • 8 long toothpicks

Ingredients

  • 12 slices white bread
  • ½ lb deli turkey
  • ½ lb American cheese
  • 8 leaves ice berg lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 8 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 16 slices bacon

Instructions

  • Cook the slices of bacon on medium high heat until crisp. Place cooked bacon on a plate covered with a paper towel to drain the grease.
  • Slice tomato and lettuce.
  • Spread mayonnaise on the bottom slice of bread. Layer the lettuce leaf, slice of tomato, cheese, turkey and crisp bacon on top of the first slice of bread.
  • Place another slice of bread on top of the bacon. Spread a little mayonnaise on top of this slice of bread. Layer more lettuce, tomato, cheese, turkey and bacon on top of this slice of bread. Cover with a third slice of bread.
  • Slice in half and serve immediately or save for later.

Notes

  • store leftovers covered in plastic wrap, a resealable bag or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • these ingredients stand up well to freezing prior to cooking or assembling the sandwich.
