Juicy French Onion Soup Burgers Recipe with Mayo Sauce

These juicy burgers are packed with french onion soup flavors and are sandwiched between two buns with a mayo based dijonnaise sauce.

Equipment

  • 1 Frying Pan
  • 1 sharp knife and cutting board
  • 1 medium or large bowl
  • 1 Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • ½ cup dijonnaise sauce
  • 4 brioche burger buns

Instructions

  • Slice the onions. Add olive oil to a pan. Cook the onions on medium heat until caramelized, about 20-30 minutes.
  • Add ground beef to a medium bowl.  Mix with the packet of onion soup mix and worcestershire sauce. Form 1 inch thick patties using your hands. Press a small dimple in the middle of the burger.
  • On medium-high heat, cook the burger. After 3-5 minutes, flip the burger. Top with cheese and cover.  After 3-5 minutes remove burger from heat once desired internal temperature is met.
  • Toast buns on medium heat with a little olive oil.
  • Add dijonnaise sauce to bottom bun. Place burger patty on top of the bottom bun. Top with onions. Place top bun over onions. Serve immediately.

  • leftover onions can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • leftover hamburger buns can be stored in a resealable bag for up to 1 week.  The buns will lose freshness each day.  To preserve freshness, store in the freezer.
  • burger buns can be frozen for up to 3 months to preserve freshness.
  • reheat leftovers before serving
  • add a dimple to the middle of each burger to prevent shrinking
  • 80/20 ground beef should be used
