Salted Honey Butter Parker House Rolls.ย Brioche bun dough spread with a honey butter mixture and sprinkled with sea salt rolled up and baked to fluffy perfection.ย Finish it off with some honey butter spread on top of the rolls and then an additional sprinkle of sea salt.ย These rolls are the perfect side dish for any holiday.ย They look perfect on a Christmas dinner table with a nice filet of steak, decadent alongside a Thanksgiving turkey, adds some fluffiness next to an Easter ham, and even adds a touch of romance to a wonderful at home Valentine's Day date.
Sweet and salty is not just a flavor for desserts, it can find a special place right on your dinner table.ย A fluffy dinner roll always compliments a meal.ย I always find that a homemade roll just takes this element of dinner to another level!ย My love of dinner rolls comes from holiday dinners at my grandparents growing up.ย My grandfather always had a fresh loaf of french bread for us to enjoy with some butter on the side.ย I always looked forward to the freshness because I mean come on, it doesn't get any fresher than bread baked that day.
Ingredients:
- bread flour
- instant yeast
- salt
- sugar
- honey
- eggs
- warm water (110 degrees)
- butter
- sea salt

The Steps:
In your stand mixer, combine bread flour, instant yeast, salt and sugar.ย Mix until combined.ย In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and add in the honey.ย Whisk the honey into the eggs until combined.ย Measure your water and make sure it is at the proper temperature (110 degrees).ย Add egg and honey mixture, water and softened butter to the stand mixer.ย Turn the mixer on and mix using the dough hook.ย If your dough is too wet, add flour as necessary.ย When your dough starts to firm but is still a little sticky, remove from the mixer.

Place the dough in a large mixing bowl coated with olive oil.ย Allow the dough to rest until it doubles in size.ย This should take 45 minutes to an hour.
Grease your casserole dish or line it with parchment paper.
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch down the center of the dough with your fist and then remove the dough from the bowl ontoย your counter that has been coated in flour.ย Cut your dough in half and roll out one half of your dough until it is about ยฝ inch thick.ย You want to try and roll your dough into the shape of a rectangle the best you can.
Time to make your rolls!
In a small bowl, mix the rest of the softened butter with honey.ย Using a rubber spatula, spread half of the honey butter on the surface of the dough.ย Starting at the end closest to you, roll up the dough with the butter on the inside until you get a long roll. Cut the roll into 8 equal sections.ย Complete these steps for the other half of the dough.
Place the rolled buns in your casserole dish.ย Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.ย Let the rolls rest in a warm environment another 20-30 minutes so they can rise one more time.

Make an egg wash with eggs and water. Using a basting brush, brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash.ย Place the rolls in the oven uncovered.ย Bake for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with honey butter brushed on top and sea salt flakes spread on top of each roll.

What causes the yeast to work or activate?
Sugar! Sugar is one of the most important elements that need to be included in any dough recipe using yeast!ย This helps activate the yeast so that it can start building up glutens.ย The water temperature is also vital for this which is why it must be at 110 degrees.
What happens if the water is hotter than 110 degrees?
If your water is hotter than 110 degrees, you will kill the yeast.ย This will cause the dough not to rise and glutens will not build.ย If the glutens don't build, you aren't going to get that fluffy texture that is so desired in a dinner roll.
How long do these rolls stay good for?
They are definitely the freshest the day they are baked, by far.ย These rolls start to toughen up after about 3 days so they are definitely best when fresh.
