Ingredients
Puff pastry topped with an egg wash before baking is used as the main structure of the garlic bread twists and also provides a signature flaky, crispy texture. The puff pastry is filled with a mixture of butter, garlic and fresh parsley. Fresh mozzarella cheese is used as the cheesy layer due to its melty texture and how well it pairs with the classic flavors of garlic bread.

Instructions

- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out puff pastry dough using a rolling pin until the surface area of the dough is a little larger and dough is pliable. Shred cheese and chop parsley.

- Step 2: Melt butter. Add 2-3 garlic cloves grated and parsley into melted butter and mix. Spread butter mixture onto puff pastry, covering the entire surface. Spread grated cheese on one half of the puff pastry.

- Step 3: Fold the half of the puff pastry with no cheese over the half of the puff pastry dough with cheese. Use a pizza cutter to slice 1 inch strips of the dough. Try and make sure the strips are cut into equal pieces for best results while baking. Whisk an egg. Baste egg wash over puff pastry strips. Twist each strip and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

- Step 4: Baste a little additional garlic butter over the twists and add additional mozzarella cheese on top. Bake 18-20 minutes or until puff pastry is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve immediately or save for later.
Hint: serve with pizza sauce or marinara sauce to dip into if preferred. Marinara sauce is a delicious flavor pairing for garlic bread and dipping the garlic twists adds an additional saucy texture that pairs well with the crispy puff pastry.
