White Chocolate Pretzel Heart Rice Krispie Treats. Crispy Rice Krispies and pretzels glued together with sweet marshmallows with pops of white chocolate melted in between. These treats are shaped into hearts, drizzle with white chocolate with an additional dash of heart sprinkles if desired. They are the most perfect Valentine's Day treat.
Love is in the air and Valentine's day is right around the corner! This snack is exactly what you need, I mean I don't know about you, but this is my love language right here!
I am going to get a little corny in the spirit of the holiday, but in all honesty, I hate Valentine's day before I started dating Nate. I was so anti the holiday mainly because I really never felt the need to celebrate. Prior to our first Valentine's Day, I shared this with Nate because quite frankly, I felt like we treated every day like it was Valentine's day and we don't wait for a special day to share how deeply we feel for each other. Nate insisted though saying he wanted to make the day really special for me.
We made reservations at an amazing sushi restaurant, he got me flowers and a beautiful watch, we got all dressed up and had a truly romantic night. This is obviously not what our relationship is based on, but it was really fun to get all glam and find an excuse to add a little extra romance!
Ingredients:
- Rice Krispie cereal
- marshmallows
- thin pretzels
- white chocolate chips
- butter
- milk
- spinkles (optional but fun)
Kitchen Appliances:
The Steps
On medium heat in the skillet, melt 4 tablespoon of butter. Add in the entire bag of marshmallows. Cook until melted completely, stirring constantly. Chop up pretzels and add them to the marshmallow. Stir them in until completely covered and mixed in. Add in the Rice Krispie cereal. Mix until well combined with the marshmallow. Turn the heat off, add the white chocolate chips and stir in.
On a baking sheet, add parchment paper. Pour the Rice Krispie mixture onto the baking sheet. Place a piece of parchment paper on top and flatten as much as possible using your hands to form the mixture to the baking sheet. Remove the parchment paper and using your cookie cutter, cut out hearts from the flattened mixture. Any left overs that were not cut using the cookie cutter can be formed free hand or using the cookie cutter as a mold. Repeat until all of the heart treats are made.
Melt the remaining 2 tablespoon of butter in the microwave. Add in the white chocolate and begin to mix as it starts to melt. Place the bowl back in the microwave and melt in 10 second increments until melted, mixing after each time. Add in the milk once it is melted and mix. Using a spoon, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the Rice Krispie treats. Sprinkle the sprinkles on top if desired.
Can the white chocolate be replaced with milk chocolate?
Absolutely! It can also be replaced with dark chocolate as well! This will of course change the flavoring, but it will still be delicious!
Can these be made in squares as well?
Absolutely! If you don't have cookie cutters or just don't want to do that step you can skip it! The flavor will not change, just the shape!
