Grapefruit Crush Spritzer

Grapefruit Crush Spritzer.  Sweet grapefruit juice mixed with bubbly and refreshing seltzer water and vodka served over ice with a slice of grapefruit.  Talk about refreshing!  I love a good grapefruit crush cocktail recipe.  Absolutely love them!  They are seriously my summer staple at all times and they have been since my first summer after turning 21.  Really crushes of all kinds are pretty much my jam! 

I will never forget my first grapefruit crush.  My parents had been getting crushes for years on vacations and they always looked so appealing to me.  After turning 21, I ordered a grapefruit crush at a roof top bar at the beach.  Absolute game changer!  I loved it so much that I immediately developed my own recipe for it, with the help of Nate of course since he was bartending at the time.

When I think of a citrus summer cocktail, the first word that comes to mind is refreshing, and that is exactly what this bubbly treat is! 

Ingredients to make Grapefruit Crush Spritzers:

• Vodka
• seltzer water
• grapefruit juice
• freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

Kitchen Appliances:

• Highball glasses

The Steps to make Grapefruit Crush Spritzers:

1. Add about 4-5 ice cubes to a highball cocktail glass. 
2. Pour in vodka and seltzer. 
3. Squeeze grapefruit into a liquid measuring cup and pour over vodka and seltzer.  Splash some grapefruit juice on top. 
4. Garnish with a fresh slice of grapefruit.

Why is there fresh grapefruit juice and store bought grapefruit juice?

I think that fresh grapefruit juice can be a little tart from the citrus.  I add the store bought just to add a little extra grapefruit flavor and extra sweetness. 

Can I make this as a mocktail?

Absolutely! All you have to do is take out the vodka and keep all of the other ingredients the same!  You can always add a little extra seltzer if the grapefruit flavor is too strong! It is still just as refreshing though!
