- Step 2: Pour in heavy whipping cream and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Cook until parmesan is melted in. Cook ravioli according to the directions on the package.
- Step 3: Add in the cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper into sauce. Mix in spices.
- Step 4: Add a large spoonful of pasta water to the sauce and mix in. Add ravioli into the pan and fold into the sauce. Sprinkle bacon on top with fresh parsley or fresh chives if desired. Serve immediately.
Hint: be sure you are adding both the olive oil and butter in step 1. The olive oil helps prevent the butter from browning and the garlic from burning. This is essential because if either the butter browns or the garlic burns, the flavor of your creamy sauce will completely change.
Substitutions and Swaps
- Ravioli - ravioli can be replaced with any pasta shape, this is the best sauce for any pasta. It goes very well with cavatappi or rigatoni because the creamy sauce gets stuck inside the pasta giving you a burst of flavor and creaminess when you bite in. You can also add fresh lobster if you still want that lobster flavor in this instance
- Heavy Cream - use whole milk if heavy cream is not available, this may alter the thickness of the sauce
- Vegetarian - omit the bacon and use cheese ravioli for a seafood free option as well
Variations of this Creamy Lobster Ravioli Sauce
- Creamy Tomato Sauce - use tomato paste in place of the majority of the spices for a delicious and comforting creamy tomato sauce
- Brown Butter Sauce - use a brown butter sauce with fresh herbs for a decadent alternative
- White Wine Sauce - create a creamy white wine based sauce to pair with this dish. Use a dry white wine like pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc to make a white sauce with heavy cream
- Kid friendly - use cheese ravioli instead of lobster ravioli and omit some of the spices. A red sauce such as a marinara sauce or traditional pasta sauce may be more kid friendly as well

FAQ
You can typically find lobster ravioli at any of your local grocery stores. You also can choose to make homemade ravioli. Adding your own lobster and cheese mixture into the pasta squares is an excellent way to make homemade lobster ravioli as well.
Adding some of the pasta water to the sauce is adding additional starch and will help to thicken the sauce. This also helps add to the creaminess of the dish. Pasta water also helps the sauce stick better to the pasta.
You want to cook the ravioli according to the directions on the package. Every package and type may have different directions so it is important to follow whatever directions you are given. You do want to make sure the cooked ravioli is al dente. This not only gives the ravioli a great texture but also allows a little room for the pasta to soften more when added to the sauce.
