Ingredients
Little smokies are the best option for cocktail sausages for these bite sized appetizers. The pre-made crescent rolls dough is the best product to wrap the mini sausages in because they get nice and crisp but also fluffy and are extremely simple to use. The egg is used as an egg wash to help the everything bagel seasoning mix stick to the pigs in a blanket.
- lil' smokies hot dogs
- pre-made crescent dough
- egg
- everything bagel seasoning
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Unwrap the crescent dough and separate the triangles of dough along the serrated cuts. Cut each triangle into thirds.
- Step 2: Roll each mini hot dog in one of the small triangles of dough and lightly press down to seal once it is rolled.
- Step 3: Whisk up one egg and brush some on the top of each pig in a blanket. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top of each pig in a blanket.
- Step 4: Bake for 17-19 minutes. Serve immediately or save for later.
Hint: if you cannot find the lil smokies, use whole hot dogs and cut them up into smaller pieces. This will work just as well and will not change the flavor of the appetizer.
Substitutions
- Lil Smokies - use turkey dogs instead of pork cocktail franks as an alternative to pork products
