Deviled eggs are a party classic, but this recipe really stands out by just adding one extra ingredient to a classic deviled egg recipe, bacon. With only seven required ingredients and minimal equipment needed, this recipe is a great appetizer to throw together when you are short on time and also need to stay within a budget.

A classic recipe like a deviled eggs recipe is the perfect appetizer to serve for special occasions or holidays and is my favorite way to add crumbled bacon to the menu by adding it as a secret ingredient. It is a great appetizer for Christmas or Thanksgiving, especially if you need a simple recipe that will not take up much time. They are also perfect to add into the menu for a summer barbecue around Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend or July 4th weekend.
Whenever I am planning what appetizers I want to make for a party I am either hosting or attending, deviled eggs are high up on my list. Not only are they so simple to make, but they're also delicious. I can never just eat one.
This was inspired by my Classic Deviled Eggs recipe on this site, and pairs well with this French Onion Patty Melt.

- Step 2: Cook the bacon. Chop the bacon into small crumble like pieces. Remove the shells of the eggs.
- Step 3: Cut the eggs in half the long way. Remove the egg yolks into a small bow. Mash the yolks. Add mayonnaise, sweet relish, yellow mustard, bacon, salt and pepper to the bowl with the yolks. Mix until combined.
- Step 4: Add the yolk mixture to a pastry bag. Pipe the yolk mixture into the egg white halves. Garnish with extra bacon. Chill in the fridge at least one hour prior to serving.
Hint: for an extra pop of flavor, garnish the deviled eggs with a sprinkle of paprika. The paprika will compliment the bacon flavor very well.
Substitutions
- Bacon - instead of pork bacon, use turkey bacon

Equipment
To make this recipe, you will need two small bowls, a large pot to boil the eggs in, a sharp knife, and a frying pan or electric skillet to cook the bacon on.
Storage
Store the assembled deviled eggs in a deviled egg tray or airtight container in the fridge. Good for 2-3 days. Deviled egg trays typically come with a lid to keep the deviled eggs fresh and have spots to place each individual deviled egg in to avoid them from falling over.
These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.
Top Tip
When removing the eggs from the boiling water, transfer them directly to a bowl of ice cold water. This ice bath will immediately stop the cooking process so your eggs don't overcook. Eggs cook very quickly so it is important to have a timer going and to remove them from the heat as soon as your timer goes off. This will assure you have perfect hard-boiled eggs.
FAQ
If you do not have a pastry bag, I suggest using a ziploc to pipe the egg yolk mixture into the egg whites. To avoid a mess or avoid the piping bag or ziploc from overflowing, I suggest wrapping the yolk mixture in plastic wrap, cutting the tip off of the plastic wrap and then placing that into the ziploc or piping bag. I use this method when piping icing for cakes too!
I typically just use a fork. If you really want to make sure they are well mashed, throw them in a food processor.
Fresh chives pair very well with deviled eggs in general, but they pair especially well when there is an addition of bacon in the recipe.
