Ingredients
The base of this hot honey slider recipe is the crispy chicken tenders that can be bought in the freezer aisle of the grocery store and cooked in the air fryer. The chicken tenders are then basted or tossed in hot honey. Brioche slider buns are used for these sliders and are topped with mayonnaise, ice berg lettuce and dill pickles along with the chicken tenders. Garlic butter is basted on top of the slider buns for extra flavor.

Instructions

- Step 1: Place chicken tenders in the air fryer. Spray cooking spray over the tenders. Air fry at 370 degrees for 14 minutes, flipping halfway through.

- Step 2: Slice slider buns in half. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the rolls. Spread ice berg lettuce over the mayonnaise.

- Step 3: Place chicken tender over ice berg lettuce. Baste with hot honey. Place pickle chips on top of chicken tender.

- Step 4: Place top bun over pickles to close the sandwich. Melt butter and add fresh garlic. Baste garlic butter over top half of the rolls. Serve sliders immediately or save for later.
Hint: for extra texture and to help prevent the buns from becoming soggy, toast the insides of the buns on a large frying pan or griddle using butter, olive oil or mayonnaise.
Substitutions
- Lettuce - instead of ice berg lettuce, you can use romaine lettuce
- Bun - use gluten free buns instead of brioche bread buns to make this gluten free
- Vegetarian - use crispy tofu or plant based chicken tenders for a vegetarian option
Variations
- Classic Chicken Sliders - omit the hot honey for a classic chicken slider
- Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Sliders - add hot honey to pepperoni pizza sliders for another way to use hot honey
- Chicken Parm Sliders - add fresh mozzarella, parmesan and marinara to the chicken for a chicken parmesan version
Equipment
To make this recipe, an air fryer or oven with a baking sheet is needed to cook the chicken tenders. A sharp serrated bread knife is also necessary to slice the slider rolls. A basting brush is needed to baste the hot honey on the chicken and the butter on top of the rolls.
If you are choosing to toast your buns, a large frying pan or griddle is needed.
How to Store Hot Honey Chicken Sliders
Store the leftover chicken sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. Reheat prior to serving.
These ingredients do stand up well to freezing for up to 2 months prior to assembling the sliders.
Top Tip
Arrange the tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket with space between pieces for optimal crisping. Overcrowding traps steam and prevents the crust from getting perfectly crunchy.
FAQ
Absolutely. Simply mix honey with your choice of chili flakes or hot sauce and warm slightly to meld the flavors. Adjust the heat level to your liking.
You can assemble the ingredients ahead of time but toast the buns and dress the sliders just before serving to keep everything fresh and crisp.
Yes, you can either fry the frozen chicken tenders or dredge your own chicken tenders using panko bread crumbs for a crispy texture.
