Ingredients
To make this recipe, you will need to find egg roll wrappers in order to wrap the cheese and sauce into. Fresh mozzarella is shredded to fill the egg roll wrappers. Pizza sauce or marinara is then used for the sauce filling and also as a sauce dipper on the side.

- egg roll wrappers
- mozzarella cheese
- pizza sauce
- oil for frying
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions

- Step 1: Shred mozzarella cheese. Heat oil on the stove on medium high heat.

- Step 2: Place egg roll wrapper on a flat surface so it looks like a diamond with one of the corners closest to you. Place 2 tablespoon of shredded cheese and 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce across the top half of the egg roll below the corner farthest away from you. Fold the far corner over the sauce and cheese. Fold the two side corners over the far corner and the fillings. Wet the sides of the egg roll closest to you with water by using your finger. Roll the egg roll towards you until closed and seal the edges.

- Step 3: Place egg rolls in the oil. Fry about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the oil and place on a plate lined with a paper towel.

- Step 4: Pour marinara sauce into a small bowl. Serve pizza rolls immediately with marinara sauce or save for later.
Hint: remove the pizza rolls from the oil when they start to become golden brown but before they are a darker golden brown. The egg roll wrappers will continue cooking slightly once removed from the oil so it is important to not leave them in the oil for too long.

Equipment
To make this recipe, you will need a cheese grater to grate the fresh mozzarella. A large sauté pan or deep fryer can be used to fry the egg rolls. Tongs are also necessary to remove the egg rolls from the hot oil safely.
How to Store Pizza Egg Rolls
Store leftover egg rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-5 days. Reheat in the oven or the air fryer prior to serving.
These ingredients do stand up well to freezing for up to 2 months.
Top Tip
When placing the egg rolls into the hot oil, place the egg roll away from you so the hot oil does not splash towards you. You can also use tongs to place the egg rolls safely into the oil.
FAQ
Yes, vegan mozzarella-style cheese can be used as a substitute, though melting properties may vary slightly depending on the brand.
Frying yields a crunchier, richer texture, but baking on a baking sheet offers a lighter alternative with less oil, still maintaining a satisfying crispness if done properly. Air frying is also an option if you want to avoid frying but still get a crispy egg roll wrapper texture.
You can assemble the egg rolls ahead of time and keep them refrigerated until ready to fry. For best texture, fry them fresh just before serving.
Yes, you can freeze prepared but uncooked egg rolls. Freeze them on a tray first, then transfer to a freezer bag. Cook frozen pizza rolls directly from frozen by extending frying or baking time.
Oils like canola oil, avocado oil or peanut oil are best due to their high smoke points. Vegetable oil or olive oil are also options but should be fried at a lower temperature since these oils have a lower smoke point.
