Ingredients
Ribeye steak is the best cut of steak for this recipe due to its fat to meat ratio, resulting in an extra juicy steak. The crostini is made of toasted french bread and is topped with a creamy horseradish sauce made of mayonnaise, horseradish and lemon juice. Fresh chives are chopped and sprinkled on top of each assembled crostini.

- ribeye steak
- French baguette bread
- mayonnaise
- horseradish
- lemon juice
- chives
- butter
- garlic
- olive oil
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions

- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice French baguette on a diagonal and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil on both sides of the bread. Mix horseradish sauce and chop chives.

- Step 2: Coat ribeye steak with olive oil and season generously with seasoning of choice.

- Step 3: Put bread in the oven. Bake about 5-8 minutes or until lightly toasted and crispy. Heat a little olive oil in a oven safe frying pan on the stove on medium-high heat. Place steak in the pan. Sear 3-5 minutes. Flip steak. Sear another 3-5 minutes. Add butter and garlic to the pan and baste steak while searing. Transfer frying pan in the oven until steak reaches an internal temperature of 120 degrees.

- Step 4: Remove steak and bread from oven. Place steak on a platter to rest for 10 minutes. Slice steak against the grain. Slice the longer slices in half so they will fit on the crostini. Assemble the crostini by spreading horseradish sauce on each slice of bread. Add steak on top of horseradish sauce. Sprinkle chives over crostini. Serve immediately or save for later.
Hint: slice the steak against the grain. This causes the muscle fibers to tighten, creating a more tender slice of steak.

Equipment
To make this recipe, you will need a baking sheet as well as a sharp bread knife and cutting board to slice the bread. To cook the steak, an oven safe frying pan and a meat thermometer is needed. Lastly, to mix the horseradish, a small bowl is needed.
How to Store Steak Crostini
Store the leftover crostini in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap or aluminum foil in the fridge. Good for 1-2 days. Reheat leftovers in the oven or in the microwave. Keep an eye on your crostini while reheating to avoid the steak overcooking and drying out.
These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.
Top Tip
Always rest the steak after cooking for about 10 minutes. This allows the steak to reabsorb the juices that it naturally loses after being removed from the heat prior to cutting. If you cut into the steak right away, it will result in a higher rate of liquid loss.
FAQ
You want to choose a steak cut that has good fat marbleization and a good fat to meat ratio. I like to look for a fat to meat ratio around 80/20. Cuts like ribeye or filet mignon are both great options.
Yes, using a gluten free baguette can make this recipe gluten free.
