I have been adding hot honey to my pepperoni pizza for about a year now and can confirm that it enhances the flavor by adding to the heat of the pepperoni while also providing a sweet element. That is why I decided to take my pepperoni pizza sliders recipe and add hot honey to it, to take its decadent flavor to the next level. These hot honey pizza sliders are guaranteed to get your taste buds going while only requiring 9 simple ingredients and one baking dish.

This cheesy slider recipe is perfect to serve for football Sunday as a game day appetizer. An appetizer like this is also great to serve at any party or occasion. It can also be a fun way to change up a pizza Friday or serve as a quick and easy weeknight dinner.
This was inspired by my chicken parmesan sliders recipe on this site, and pairs well with this mac and cheese with cavatappi pasta recipe.

Instructions

- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grate mozzarella cheese. Prepare a large casserole dish or baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice slider rolls in half and place in casserole dish.

- Step 2: Spread pizza sauce over the bottom half of the rolls. Drizzle hot honey over the pizza sauce. Spread mozzarella over the layer of pizza sauce. Spread pepperoni slices evenly over the mozzarella.

- Step 3: Drizzle hot honey evenly over the pepperoni. Place top of the buns over the pepperoni. Melt butter. Add garlic and hot honey to the butter. Baste melted butter on top of the rolls.

- Step 4: Cover sliders with aluminum foil. Bake 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Grate parmesan on top of the rolls and sprinkle oregano. Serve immediately or save for later.
Hint: use a block of mozzarella cheese and grate it fresh. This allows the cheese to melt more evenly. Pre shredded cheese has a film on it to help with preservation that prevents it from melting evenly when baked.
Substitutions
- Cheese - pre shredded cheese can be used if you do not have the option to grate fresh cheese
- Bun - use gluten free buns instead of white bread buns to make this gluten free
- Vegetarian - use a plant based pepperoni or omit the pepperoni all together to make this recipe vegetarian
Variations
- Pepperoni Pizza Sliders - omit the hot honey for a classic plain pizza slider
- Ham and Cheese - layer ham and cheese on the sliders for a classic deli meat version
- Kid friendly - add a little regular honey to reduce the heat from the hot honey

How to Reheat Pizza Sliders
To reheat these cheesy pizza sliders, either bake in the oven covered with aluminum foil at 350 degrees for about 5-10 minutes or cook in the air fryer at 370 for about 3-5 minutes or until warm.
Top Tip
If you desire the rolls to be a little toasted and golden brown in color, remove the aluminum foil for the last 5 minutes of baking. This will provide a little extra texture to the rolls.
